About Me

Dr. Shailesh Sable, MBBS, M.S. DNB (Surgical Gastroenterology), Fellowship in Liver Transplantation, and Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery [FMAS], is a Consultant, Liver transplantation & Hepato-Biliary & Pancreatic Surgery. He has a rich experience of more than 13 years in his field.

Dr. Sable has been part of more than 700 liver transplants (mainly living donor liver transplant or LDLT) and has performed more than 800 complex liver and pancreatic resections.

Dr. Sable has completed his education at prestigious institutes in Mumbai and Aurangabad. He has completed DNB in Surgical Gastroenterology & HPB surgery from Jagjivanram Western Railway hospital, Mumbai under Diplomat of National Board, New Delhi after Masters of Surgery & DNB General Surgery.

Dr. Sable has completed 2 years of training in Liver transplantation (predominantly LDLT] and later continued as a Consultant for another 3 years in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai. During this period of 5 years, Dr. Sable has been involved in more than 250 liver transplants either as a primary surgeon or as a second surgeon.

Dr. Sable is keenly interested in Hepato-Biliary & Pancreatic malignancies and performs complex major liver resections (including Trisegmentectomies, posterior sectorectomies, etc), Whipples' procedure (& distal pancreatic resections) & complex bile duct injury repair surgeries.

Dr. Sable was also a part of the Sahyadri organ transplant team since August 2018 (involved in over 150 liver transplants) till July 2020. He has been an active part of the combined Kidney-Pancreas transplant programme (15 paediatric liver transplants including reduced grafts, mono-segments grafts, and left lateral lobes). He has also been a part of the oldest liver transplant program in Maharashtra at Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre (26 liver transplants).

Dr. Sable has a very keen interest in research and has many scientific publications in indexed and peer-reviewed international and national journals. He has also published chapters in various books and includes research on Living donors, Liver regeneration, Hepatocellular cancer and Paediatric liver diseases.

Dr. Sable is an excellent surgeon and an astute clinician, pleasant to work with, and a good teacher.
