Dr. Pankaj Maheshwari is a highly experienced Senior Consultant in Urology, Uro & Robotic Surgery at Fortis Hospital Mulund. He completed his basic training in Urology from Grant Medical College & Sir JJ Hospital, Mumbai in 1994, following his General Surgery training at Government Medical College Nagpur.
Prior to joining Fortis Hospital, Dr. Maheshwari served as the Chief Urologist at RG Stone Urology Institute and Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital Pune.
Dr. Maheshwari is recognized as a pioneer in the field of Holmium Laser in Urology in India. He introduced the use of Holmium Laser in India in 1998 and received specialized training in Holmium Laser prostatectomy from Professor Peter Gilling in Tauranga, New Zealand, and Dr. Akhil Das at New York Medical Center. For over 20 years, Dr. Maheshwari has been demonstrating Holmium Laser Prostatectomy at various teaching hospitals and major medical centers in national and international conferences throughout the country.
He has a vast array of publications, with over 45 national and international publications to his name. Notably, eight of his publications have been quoted in the Campbell's textbook of Urology. His work on exit strategies after PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy), PCNL for Anomalous Kidney, and his technique of CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) Catheter Placement has received significant appreciation within the medical community.
