Orthopedics

Orthopedics focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of conditions and injuries affecting the musculoskeletal system, which includes bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles. Orthopedic specialists utilize non-surgical and surgical methods to address a wide range of conditions, such as fractures, arthritis, sports injuries, spinal disorders, and deformities. The goal is to alleviate pain, restore function, and improve the patient’s mobility and overall quality of life.

Joint Replacement

Joint replacement involves surgically replacing damaged or worn-out joints, such as the hip, knee, or shoulder, with artificial implants. It is commonly performed to relieve pain and restore mobility in individuals with severe joint conditions, such as arthritis or joint degeneration.
Spinal surgery refers to surgical procedures performed on the spine to treat various conditions, such as herniated discs, spinal deformities, or spinal cord compression. Robotics-assisted spinal surgery utilizes robotic technology to assist surgeons in performing complex spinal procedures with precision.
Keyhole surgery, also known as minimally invasive surgery or laparoscopic surgery, involves performing surgical procedures through small incisions using specialized instruments and a camera. It allows for quicker recovery, reduced scarring, and less post-operative pain compared to traditional open surgery.
Minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery refers to surgical techniques that minimize the size of incisions and disruption to surrounding tissues during orthopaedic procedures. It aims to reduce post-operative pain, accelerate recovery, and promote better cosmetic outcomes.
Hip replacement is a surgical procedure that involves replacing a damaged or arthritic hip joint with an artificial implant. It is typically recommended for individuals with severe hip pain or loss of function due to conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or hip fractures.
Hand surgery encompasses a wide range of surgical procedures that aim to treat conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and fingers. It includes procedures for treating injuries, fractures, nerve compression, tendon disorders, and reconstructive surgery.
Shoulder surgery involves surgical procedures to treat various shoulder conditions, including rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, arthritis, and shoulder impingement syndrome. Surgery can range from arthroscopic procedures to total shoulder replacement.
Deformity correction refers to surgical procedures aimed at correcting skeletal deformities, such as limb length discrepancies, scoliosis (spinal curvature), or angular deformities in the bones. It often involves techniques like osteotomy (cutting and realigning bones) or external fixation.
Arthroscopic surgery is a minimally invasive procedure performed using an arthroscope, a thin tube with a camera, to visualize and treat joint conditions. It is commonly used for procedures like meniscus repair, ligament reconstruction, or cartilage procedures in joints like the knee, shoulder, or ankle.
Cartilage restoration procedures are used to repair damaged or injured cartilage in joints, such as the knee. Techniques can include microfracture, autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI), or osteochondral grafting to promote the growth and repair of cartilage tissue.
Trauma and fracture surgery involve the surgical management and treatment of bone fractures and traumatic injuries. This can include procedures such as fracture reduction, internal fixation with plates or screws, and external fixation techniques.
Pediatric orthopaedics focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions in children. It covers a wide range of conditions, including growth plate injuries, congenital deformities, scoliosis, and developmental hip dysplasia.
Sports medicine involves the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of injuries related to sports or physical activity. It includes non-surgical and surgical approaches to manage conditions such as ligament tears, tendon injuries, stress fractures, and overuse injuries.
