Neurology

Neurology is the branch of medicine concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. Neurologists specialize in managing conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, migraines, and peripheral neuropathy. They employ various diagnostic techniques, such as imaging studies and neurological examinations, to evaluate and treat patients with neurological disorders.

Stereotatic Radiosurgery

Stereotactic radiosurgery is a non-invasive technique that uses highly focused radiation beams to precisely target and treat brain abnormalities or tumors. It is performed without traditional surgical incisions and is effective in treating conditions like brain tumors, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and trigeminal neuralgia.
Computer-assisted neurosurgery involves the use of advanced computer technology and imaging techniques to assist in planning and performing neurosurgical procedures. It enhances precision and accuracy in surgical navigation, tumor resection, and spinal instrumentation.
Interventional neurosurgery involves minimally invasive techniques to treat vascular diseases and conditions affecting the central nervous system. It utilizes catheter-based procedures, such as embolization, stenting, and coiling, to treat aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, and other vascular abnormalities.
Neuroendoscopy is a minimally invasive technique that uses a small endoscope to visualize and access the brain or spinal cord through small incisions. It is used for diagnostic purposes, as well as for performing procedures like tumor removal, cyst drainage, and treatment of hydrocephalus.
Spinal instrumentation involves the use of implants, such as screws, rods, plates, or cages, to provide stability and support to the spine during spinal fusion surgeries. It helps in correcting spinal deformities, treating spinal fractures, and providing stability after spinal tumor resection.
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery is a neurosurgical procedure used to treat movement disorders like Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, and dystonia. It involves implanting electrodes into specific areas of the brain and connecting them to a neurostimulator device that delivers electrical impulses to alleviate symptoms.
Epilepsy surgery aims to identify and remove the brain region responsible for seizure activity in patients with medically refractory epilepsy. Surgical techniques can include resective surgery, disconnection procedures, or implantation of neurostimulation devices to reduce or eliminate seizures.
Skull base surgery involves the surgical treatment of tumors, lesions, or abnormalities located at the base of the skull, where critical structures like blood vessels, nerves, and the brain meet. It utilizes specialized approaches and techniques to access and remove these lesions while minimizing damage to surrounding structures.
Minimally invasive neurosurgery refers to surgical techniques that use small incisions, specialized instruments, and imaging guidance to perform neurosurgical procedures. It aims to reduce trauma, post-operative pain, and recovery time compared to traditional open surgery.
CV junction surgery focuses on the treatment of conditions affecting the craniovertebral junction, where the skull and upper cervical spine meet. It involves surgical procedures to address abnormalities like atlantoaxial instability, basilar invagination, or Chiari malformation, which can compress the brainstem or spinal cord.
Endoscopic brain surgeries utilize small, flexible endoscopes to access and treat conditions within the brain. It allows for minimally invasive procedures like tumor biopsy, cyst removal, hydrocephalus treatment, and the management of intraventricular or intracerebral hemorrhages.
